Clifford A. Kamps, 56, of Moline, Illinois, died unexpectedly at home on July 9, 2018.
Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Moline, with The Rev. Larry Conway officiating. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Cliff's memory. Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline, is entrusted with arrangements.
Clifford Alan Kamps was born April 16, 1962, in Moline, the son of Richard and LaJean (Bergland) Kamps. He earned his master's degree in organizational leadership from St. Ambrose University. He was currently a substitute teacher for the Rock Island School District, where he had been for many years. He also worked at Black Hawk Area Special Education Center in East Moline, briefly as a sociology teacher at Augustana College, and in security for Securitas.
He was a voracious reader, and enjoyed bike riding and hiking. He loved animals of all kinds, and was always quick to help wildlife and stray pets in need. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Cliff. His fiancé and partner of over 20 years, Jill Nielsen, was the love of his life, and he loved her son, Ian, as though he were his own.
Cliff is survived by his fiancé, Jill, and her son, Ian Bradley, both of Moline, a brother and sister-in-law, John and Jennifer West, and their children, Olivia West and Tyler Dwyer, all of Andover, Illinois, and his beloved cat, Tia. He was preceded in death by his parents.
