Christopher D. Filkins, 64, of Moline, Illinois, died Friday, June 5, 2015, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory with services in Chicago at a later date. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Chicago. Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline, is serving the family.

Chris was born February 8, 1951, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Edward and Patricia (Strickler) Filkins. He graduated from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, serving as president. He earned his master's degree in geophysics from the University of Chicago.

Chris married Janice Szurgot Magdars on April 3, 1993, in Palatine, Illlinois. He worked for Culligan International Company for 38 years as a chemist.

He enjoyed camping, riding his BMW motorcycle, and was a model train enthusiast.

Chris is survived by his wife, Jan, of Moline; siblings and spouses, Jonathon Filkins of Picayune, Mississippi, David and Mika Filkins of Sanibel, Florida, and Jean Filkins and Chris Wright, of Santa Rosa, California; three nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents.
