Christine Kay Bodenbender Moline, Illinois Christine Kay Bodenbender, age 33, died February 26, 2001, at Annaburg Manor in Manassas, Virginia. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline. The Reverend Gary LaCroix will officiate. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Christine was born November 18, 1967, in Moline, the only child of Reinhardt Henry Bodenbender, M.D. and the late Marilyn Zelinda Kay Bodenbender. They lived in Moline, Illinois, where Dr. Bodenbender had a general medical practice, for twelve years. Christine then accompanied her parents to numerous hospital duty stations in the West, East, and Gulf coasts of the United States during her father's twenty-year career as a Navy Medical Officer and Pediatrician. Christine attended Lincolnia and Key Centers in Fairfax County, Virginia and Stephen Knolls School in Kensington, Maryland. Following her father's retirement from the Navy, the family moved to Vienna, Virginia. Christine received in their home the loving and totally devoted care of her mother, Marilyn, who died of breast cancer in 1997. Since then, her care has been provided by her father and the dedicated staff at Annaburg Manor where she was adopted as part of their special family. Christine's lifelong struggles with a genetic disorder, Sanfilippo's Syndrome, were a testament to her strong will for life. Her cheerful determination and resolve were an inspiration to all who knew, loved, and cared for her. She retained the faith, love, and spirit of an innocent child throughout her entire 33 years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Hospital for Sick Children, 1731 Bunker Hill Road, N.E., Washington, D.C., 20017, or the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 18th St. N.W., Washington, D.C., 20006. Survivors include her father in Vienna, Virginia; her grandmother, Katherine (Katie) Bodenbender and Uncle Arthur Bodenbender and family of Moline, Illinois; her Aunt Dr. Katherine Bodenbender of Rock Island, Illinois; and her Uncle Andrew Bodenbender and family of Richmond, British Columbia.
