Charlotte D. Stalsberg, 90, of East Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Burial is in Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Viroqua, Wisconsin. Memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church.
The former Charlotte Dora Eitland was born February 3, 1934, in Westby, Wisconsin, the daughter of Tiofeld Augustine and Dora Bell (White) Eitland. She married La Verne Stalsberg on February 3, 1954. He died January 7, 1990.
Charlotte had a variety of jobs in her career. She worked as a nurse’s aid in Viroqua and Binghamton, New York, and as a personal secretary for the U.S. Army at Camp McCoy. While living in Clearwater Beach, Florida, she volunteered as a water aerobics instructor and enjoyed her job selling swimsuits at “Wings”.
She was a lifetime member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Viroqua, teaching Sunday School for many years. She was a terrific mother, serving as Cub Scout Den Mother, and homemaker, known for her homemade applesauce, breads, and lefse. In recent years, she developed a love of YAHTZEE.
Charlotte is survived by four children, Randy (Sheila) Stalsberg of The Villages, Florida, Sherrie Stalsberg of Milaca, Minnesota, Rodney (Lorri) Stalsberg of Port Byron, Illinois, and Terry (Brenda) Stalsberg of Metamora, Illinois; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister, Deloris Olson of Viroqua; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Terry Wayne Stalsberg; and siblings, Clifford LaVerne Eitland, Everett Eitland, Darlene Ostrem, Lucille Christianson, Mildred Hinkel, Gladys Schucht, Gordon Eitland, Norma Erickson, and Leola Eitland.
