Charlotte A. Thorp, 89, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo, Illinois. Visitation is one hour prior to services.
The former Charlotte Ann Towne was born January 15, 1927, in Bradford, Illinois, the daughter of Marvin and Eunice (Lord) Towne. She graduated from Tiskilwa High School and Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing. She married Donald Thorp on November 5, 1949, in Princeton, Illinois. He passed away February 12, 1995.
She was employed at Lutheran Hospital and Illini Hospital, retiring in 1982. She was later employed at Jumer's Casino, retiring in 2008.
Charlotte enjoyed craft-making, crocheting, and going to the casinos. Her greatest joy was spent with her sons, grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, Steven of Topeka, Kansas, Michael (Joe Bianco) of Marseilles, Illinois, and Timothy (Sue) of New Boston, Illinois; two granddaughters, Stacy Thorp-Roller of Tiffin, Iowa, and Lisa (Ryan) Koplin of Spring Hill, Florida; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Ruth Sanders of DeKalb, Illinois, and Marvin Towne of Springfield, Illinois; and a special sister-in-law, Virginia Humbert of Geneseo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her son, Todd Thorp; brothers, Robert, David, and Donald Towne; and a sister, Shirley Morris.
