The former Charlotte Ann Bronnenberg was born December 19, 1928, in Anderson, Indiana, the daughter of Melvin and Ruth (Green) Bronnenberg. She married Ralph C. Hughes in Indiana in 1948. In 1954, Charlotte and Ralph moved their growing family to East Moline and Ralph went to work for Deere & Company.
Charlotte Hughes was a Stay-at-Home Mom raising four children. Her children were quick to compliment their mother on never letting them go to school without a warm breakfast. Ralph and Charlotte together provided a wonderful childhood for their family.
Charlotte’s hobbies included playing Bridge with friends, attending basketball games and taking bus tours. Charlotte was also an avid animal lover. Charlotte’s greatest pleasure was her children and grandchildren.
Charlotte is survived by her daughters, Jane (Rick) Leggett Lampkin of Fort Myers, FL and Moline; Cynthia (Larry) Ziegler of Fort Myers, FL (formerly Coal Valley); son, William Hughes of Moline; and a daughter-in-law, Katie Hughes of Boise, Idaho. Charlotte is also survived by three grandchildren, Craig (Cara) Ziegler of Naperville, Illinois, Madeline Hughes of Oak Park, Illinois and Ross Hughes of Ames, Iowa.
