Charlie T. Bailey

March 22, 1988 — March 15, 2022

Charlie Thomas “Bubba” Bailey, age 33, of East Moline, Illinois passed away March 15, 2022, in Moline, IL surrounded by dedicated first responders and everyday heroes.

He was born March 22, 1988, to Charlie F. and Velvet (Ackman) Bailey in Rock Island, IL. To his given family he was “Bubba.” To his extended Hy-Vee and P&D Cleaning Services family, he was Charlie. He was the nicest guy you’ll ever meet, the comforter, the friend. He shared his light with every person he met.

Bubba graduated from United Township High School in 2006. He was the definition of humble, kind, and loving. After high school he volunteered at Two Rivers YMCA. There he shared his love of life with children and met his forever love Sarah Hillman.

After a decade of service at Hy-Vee Silvis, Charlie officially gained the title “The Meat Man.” In this role, he was more than just the guy behind the counter, he was the “Smile in Every Aisle.” He was passionate in life, lived for a sarcastic comment, and never missed an opportunity to prank a friend. Charlie’s infectious smile and ridiculous chuckle will be missed every day.

More than anything, Bubba loved his family. When he wasn’t at work, you could find him with his kids or his “brothers from another mother” on a fishing bank. What made him happiest was being a dad and hero to his Bailey crew.

He will be remembered for his determination, strength, and overall ability to make people smile. In other words, he made his daddy proud.

So, smile, say “I love you” and know he would say… “I Love You More!”

He was preceded in death by his mother Velvet J. Bailey (MiMi) Galesburg, IL.

His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his family. Charlie T. is survived by his father Charlie F. Bailey (Big Papa) East Moline, IL; loving partner Sarah J. Hillman East Moline, IL; children Lucien, Isaiah, Bryce, and Abigail; siblings Renita Bailey Peoria, IL; Charlotte (George) Bailey Iowa City, IA; Cassandra McCullough Bourbonnais, IL; Candice (John) Tapia Highlands Ranch, CO; Cecelia Bailey East Moline, IL; Clarissa Bailey East Moline, IL; and a host of nieces and nephews. Like his mother, Charlie’s love extended well beyond his biological family. He is loved and survived by his many “adopted” brothers and sisters, as well as the entire Mt. Zion and Hy-Vee family.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all the first responders, nurses, and hospital staff that aided in the care of our baby. A special thank you goes out to Nancy Anderson Norin for comforting him on his journey home.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday March 26, 2022, 1pm to 4pm at BridgePointe 485, 1 Montgomery Drive Moline, IL in the River Room. Memorial donations for his 4 children may be made to Trimble Funeral Home at TrimbleFuneralHomes.com
