Charles R. "Charlie" Luebke, 87, of East Moline, Illinois, died Monday, October 30, 2017, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, from congestive heart failure.

Memorial services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with Rev. Dan Witkowski officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services.
Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory and burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Friends are invited to join the family at a funeral luncheon at City View Celebrations at Trimble Pointe following the burial. Memorials may be made to Christian Care, PO Box 4176, Rock Island, IL 61204-4176.

Charles Richard Luebke was born September 22, 1930, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Charles F. and Lydia Luebke. He graduated from Keokuk High School and served as an Air Policeman in the U.S. Air Force from December 1950 to December 1954. He married Shirley J. White at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline on June 1, 1952. They lived in Lake Charles, Louisiana until December 1955, when they moved to Moline.

Charlie worked for McLaughlin Body Co. in Moline for five years. He became owner of Avenue Rental Inc. for 25 years until retiring in 1997, when he sold his business to his daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Tom Voss.

He attended First Lutheran Church, Moline. He loved playing golf with his son, Chuck, and they had many good times on the golf course with all their golfing buddies. He was also active in local stock car racing, sponsoring the "Avenue Rental" car.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley, of East Moline; a son, Charles S. "Chuck" (Caryn Rose) of East Moline; a daughter, Tina L. (Tom) Voss of Hillsdale, Illinois; three grandchildren, Beth Luebke, Kevin Luebke, and Caitlyn Gray; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and a daughter-in-law, Melody K. Luebke.
