Charles F. Schweiss

Charles J. Schweiss, 92, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Sunday, July 1, 2018, in his home.

A memorial prayer service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, during the Sunday service at 10 a.m. on August 5, 2018. The Rev. Tim Snart will officiate. Cremation took place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, and burial will be in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.

Charles was born May 24, 1926, in Rock Island, Illinois, to Edward and Grace Williams Schweiss. He graduated from Rock Island High School, and served in the US Army during WW II. He married Helen Horner in 1950, who preceded him in death. He married Mary Ann Pannell Strader in 2005. He worked for Container Corporation of America for 29 years, retiring as Personnel Director.

Charles is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; two children, Kent Schweiss of Cave Creek, Arizona, and Sandra Sentman of Peyton, Colorado; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a step-daughter, Vicky McKinley of Colona, Illinois; brothers, Edward Schweiss of Sterling, Illinois, and Walter Schweiss of Taylor Ridge, Illinois.
