Chaleesa Nicole Nelson, 33, of Clinton, Iowa, died Friday, March 15, 2024.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at Grace City Church, Rock Island, with the Rev. Dwight L. Ford officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Entombment is in Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Chaleesa’s memory.
Born on March 30, 1990, in Silvis, Illinois, to Chalaunder Porter and Raynel Nelson, Chaleesa brought light and warmth into the lives of those around her from the moment she entered the world. She graduated from Davenport North High School in 2008. A passion for singing brought her many awards in Show Choir that highlighted her high school years.
Throughout her professional journey, Chaleesa made significant impacts in various roles. She worked at AT&T in Davenport and later at Focus Services in Clinton. Most recently, she contributed her talents to the Iowa American Water Company.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Chaleesa was defined by her unwavering faith in God. She found solace and strength in scripture, often sharing its wisdom as a beacon of hope for those around her. Her faith was not only a guiding force in her life but also a source of comfort and inspiration for others.
Chaleesa possessed a multitude of talents and interests, including her own platform on TikTok, where she shared her creativity and humor with countless individuals. Her infectious laughter and radiant personality brightened the darkest of days, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
Above all else, Chaleesa will be remembered for her unparalleled compassion and unwavering encouragement. She had a remarkable ability to uplift those in need, offering a listening ear and a helping hand without hesitation. Her genuine care for others knew no bounds, making her a true friend and confidante to many.
Chaleesa is survived by her loving parents, Chalaunder Porter of North Las Vegas, Nevada, and Raynel Nelson of Kewanee, Illinois; siblings, Camisha (James) Kirk of Waxahachie, Texas, Marcus (Alisha) Drake of Las Vegas, Daja Hickman, and Aaron Nelson; nieces and a nephew, Meilani and Jeremiah Kirk, and Mahari Drake; her grandmother, Mary Porter of East Moline; her godmother, LaNelle Brown; and aunts and uncles, James Porter, Darrol (Natasha) Woods, Arthur (Takela) Woods, Jr., Tracey Jones, Jarvis “Trayl” Woods, Lenorise Coleman, Arysha Woods, and Derrill Nelson. She was deeply loved by a host of cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and great-grandmother, Arthur Woods, Sr., Mary and Earl Nelson, and Ruthie Woods; and her cousin, Travon Jones.
