Cecille "Jonnie" Mcdermand

Cecille Marie "Jonnie" Ames McDermand of Moline, IL, was born December 16, 1924 in Buda, IL, to James "Buddie" and Gladys "Bobbie" Ames, and died on June 26, 2019.

Visitation is Friday, July 26 from 4-7 pm at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. The funeral is Saturday, July 27 at 11 am at Elim Covenant, with burial to follow at Osceola Grove Cemetery in rural Bradford, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elim Covenant Church.

She was raised on a farm near Bradford, graduated from Bradford High School at age 16, and received a scholarship to attend Illinois State. She married Robert "Mickey" McDermand on January 27, 1946 in Kewanee, IL. They moved to Moline in 1954 and enjoyed being part of a great group of neighbors.

She is survived by children, Mary Scott of Moline, and Michael McDermand (Marilyn) of Crystal Lake, IL; grandchildren, Brett, Laura, and Clint (Amber) Scott, Andrew (Amber) and Jeffrey McDermand, Maddy Curley, and Evan Bryant; and great grandchildren Zachary, Avery, Carter, Reagan, and Dylan Scott, Jayden and Adilynn McDermand, and Katarina Curley. She was preceded in death by her husband Mickey in 2003, grandson Joshua Scott, great grandson Brady Scott, and sister Norma.

Jonnie worked in accounting at John Deere Plow Planter and retired to spend winters in Peoria, Arizona. She was a chapter member of the Order of Eastern Star and a charter member of Silver Chain Circle of King's Daughters. She attended Elim Covenant Church in Moline. She was a 52-year survivor of breast cancer. Jonnie played piano, loved to dance, was an avid reader, and loved to send cards and letters.
