The former Carolyn Lee Pratt was born November 14, 1945, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Richard “Dick” and Lena (Jones) Pratt. She attended Washington High School and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in elementary education.
Carolyn was a schoolteacher at Colene Hoose Elementary in Normal, Illinois for 35 years, where she forged many friendships and helped countless children during her time there. Outside of her career, one of Carolyn’s favorite activities was traveling and spending time with her lifelong friends, whose relationships she absolutely cherished. Their love and support of Carolyn over the years was immeasurable. And when not spending time with friends or family, Carolyn enjoyed listening to music (especially Bruno Mars), watching basketball, playing bridge and shopping on QVC. She was also a talented interior decorator and always maintained an immaculate home. Her quick wit and wry sense of humor were just a few of her hallmark traits, though none shone more brightly than her generosity and kindness to others.
Carolyn is survived by her sister, Cathy Cordova of Oneida, New York; brother-in-law, Steve Johnson of Bettendorf; and nieces and nephews, Kelli (James) Zielinski, Chris (Meg) Johnson, Jay (Kate) Johnson, Robb (Amy) Johnson, John (Diana) Pratt, Jennifer Pratt, and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Pratt; and sister, Margarette Johnson.
