Carolyn D. Gregory

February 24, 1930 — August 25, 2024

Davenport, Iowa

Carolyn D. Gregory, 94, of Davenport, Iowa, died Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Kahl Home, Davenport.

Private services will be held with burial at Davenport Memorial Park. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The former Carolyn Dee Hennings was born February 24, 1930, in Davenport, the daughter of Harold and Delores (Wagner) Hennings. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1947 and went on to marry the love of her life, Robert Obal Gregory on October 8, 1949. The couple had three children prior to Bob passing away unexpectedly in 1959.

Carolyn worked as a traffic specialist for Ralston Purina for many years before moving to Lake of the Ozarks in 1976. After 10 years in Missouri, she moved back to Eldridge, Iowa, where she worked as a secretary for Thomas Sherman’s Law Firm before retiring for good around the age of 70.

She loved taking photographs of old barns and painting them, as well as windmills and Fresco paintings. She enjoyed knitting and cross-stitching, and was seemingly always making mittens, scarves and hats for family and friends.

Carolyn is survived by three children, Linda (Roger) Keesee of McKinney, Texas, Scott (Farrah Ogilvie) Gregory of Mirriam, Kansas, and Kay (Kenneth) Castellano of Davenport; grandchildren, Jill (Patrick) Ellis, Michael (Jennifer) Keesee, Miranda Pelletier, Samantha Pelletier, and C.J. Pelletier, Nicole Miller, Katlin (Adriana) Williams, Landon (Rachel) Williams, Freya (Christopher) Williams, and Slater Williams; great-grandchildren, Emily, Hannah, Meghan, Jacob, Kathryn, and Taysom; her brother, Harold “Skip” (Evelyn) Hennings; and a nephew and niece, Michael and Jennifer.
