Carolyn "Honey Bee" Earl passed peacefully on Saturday, October 6, 2018, surrounded by loved ones at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa.
Services are 1:00 p.m. Friday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, Moline. Visitation is 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be made to the Carolyn Earl Memorial Fund to be established by the family.
Carolyn was born December 1, 1947 in Biloxi, Mississippi to Leola and Bryce Tyler. After losing her mother at an early age she was raised in Hammond, Indiana, by her aunt Mary "Essie" Luster and uncle Booker T. Luster.
As a child, she gave her life to Christ at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Hammond, Indiana. Carolyn completed elementary school and graduated from Hammond High School in 1965. Immediately following graduation, Carolyn attended and graduated business school, while also modeling on the side.
On Saturday, July 22, 1967, she was married to Acie Earl Sr. and they spent 52 years together. They had four sons, Acie II (Tiffini), Brenton I, Chad (Tabia), and Dorian (Agustina). Carolyn was "Nana" to 13 grandchildren and one great-grandson. She loved her family and friends and cherished preparing for holidays and family traditions, which always were inclusive of family friends and her "sisters."
Carolyn worked with Dr. Ronald J. Lyss in Moline, Illinois, for over 30 years as a Chiropractic Office Manager and an advocate for holistic health and wellness. Her passion for helping others blossomed throughout the years and she worked deligenly to provide holistic health-care options for women and men with health concerns in the local and surrounding Quad Cities area. She retired in 2009. Carolyn was an 18-year breast cancer survivor and especially advocated for women's health.
Carolyn was an active member of Progressive Baptist Church in Davenport, Iowa. She sang in the choir as a soprano and served as president in the Deaconess ministry prior to her illness.
Carolyn will always be remembered for her unconditional love for the people in her life and her resilient spirit. She was a loving mother, wife, and "Nana," a dear "sister" friend, and thoroughly enjoyed and celebrated life at any moment.
She is survived by her husband, Acie Sr. and their sons, Acie II, Brenton I, Chad, Dorian, and Godson Rob Slaughter. She was a grandmother to Kendra, Kiah, Kenya, Keonna, Kacie, Acie Kareem, Zaiya, Zione, Braxton, Brenton II, Chace, Winston, Vincent, and great-grandmother to Kash.
