Ilaf C. Roman, 91, of Silvis, Illinois, formerly of Moline, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009, in Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Congregational Church, Moline, with The Reverend Allen Mothershed officiating. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to the Ken Roman Golf Scholarship Fund.
The former Ilaf Colette Mabee was born January 22, 1918, in Seymour, Iowa, the daughter of John and Dora (Couchman) Mabee. She married Kenneth A. Roman on January 17, 1946, in East Moline. He died July 15, 2001. She graduated from the former Kirksville Teachers College, Kirksville, Missouri, and had been a teacher, a beautician and telephone operator. She later was bookkeeper for her husband at Roman Heating in East Moline.
She was a member of First Congregational Church, Moline, and had been a long-time member of Short Hills Country Club, where she was Club Champion. She was an avid golfer and Chicago Cubs fan, loved playing cards and especially enjoyed her great-grandchildren.
Ilaf is survived by two children and their spouses, Dr. John and Christine Roman of Summertown, Tennessee, and Cindy and Randy Erickson of Moline; four grandchildren and their spouses, Shannon and Chad Dudek, Jackson Roman, Kristy and Steve Determan, and Lynsy Erickson; and three great-grandchildren, Alexander and Elizabeth Dudek and Madelyn Determan. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, John and Everett Mabee, and a sister, Letha Crist.
