L. Bruce Moore, 69, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, January 26, 2009, in Trinity Pathway Hospice at Terrace Park, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Services are 1 p.m. Friday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memroial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Lowell Bruce Moore was born April 29, 1939, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Frederick and Thelma Inez (Golligher) Moore. He married Linda Gardner on May 2, 1964, in Moline. He founded Machine Research Company in East Moline and Rock Island in 1975, and operated it until 1992. He also operated Quad City Industrial Plaza in Rock Island for several years. Since 1992, he has owned and operated Moore Motor Sports, building and restoring racing cars.
Bruce?s passion was racing. He was involved in racing with his family his entire life. In the 1960?s he raced with Blackhawk Racing Club and in the 1980?s with Storm Racing Club, winning many championships. He competed with the World of Outlaws through 1989 and then supported his sons in racing.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Tracy Moore of Bettendorf, and Shawn and Amanda Moore of Bolingbrook, Illinois; two grandsons, Duncan and Griffin Moore; a nephew, Tim Moore of Rock Island; and nieces, Sherrie Moore and Jan Moore, both of New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert and Kenneth Moore.
