Bonita J. "Bonnie" Thomas, 63, of Sherrard, Illinois, died Sunday, January 17, 2016, at home.
A hospitality visitation celebrating Bonnie's life will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 23, at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Bonnie was born June 4, 1952, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Emma (Lange) Martens. She graduated from North Scott High School in 1970 and went on to earn her Associates Degree from Western Illinois University. She married Tommy Thomas on March 17, 1978, in Moline.
She worked for WQAD as private secretary to the General Manager for 18 years before going to work at the Moline Township Assessors office as a deputy assessor for 7 years. She enjoyed craftwork and quilting, was an avid reader, and loved children - if there was a baby around, Bonnie would be holding it.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Tommy; three children, Matthew Thomas of Sherrard, Samuel Thomas and his fiancé, Haylee Peterson, of Sherrard, and Amanda Davis and her husband, John, of Branson, Missouri; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Charlotte and Bryce Healy of Branson, and Melody Proctor of Bettendorf; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
