Bobby Joe Pannell

Bobby J. Pannell, 68, of Moline, Illinois, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Iowa City VA Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with Rev. Ki Yoon Oh officiating. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the VVA Quad Cities Chapter 299 will present military honors. Visitation is 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Bobby Joe Pannell was born October 2, 1950, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, the son of Horace and Ruth (Barnett) Pannell. He graduated from Commerce High School in Commerce, Texas in 1970. He then attended Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, Texas and Hill Jr. College in Hillsboro, Texas, where he received his associated degree and soon after joined the U.S. Army in 1974. During his military service he fell in love and married Yop Nan Song on May 26, 1981. After retiring from the U.S. Army he worked and retired from Per Mar Security Service in Davenport, Iowa.

Bobby was a veteran, having proudly served 20 years in the U.S. Army. The most joyful moments in his life were bragging on his children and grandchildren and spending time with his family. People that knew him knew he never met a stranger and could make everyone in the room laugh.

Bobby is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Yop Nan; three children, Chaka Pannell Broughton and son-in-law, Willie Broughton of Mesquite, Texas; Connie Pannell of Moline, and Bobby Pannell Jr. of Coal Valley, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Yasmin, Mariah, Audrina, Caleb, Christian, Camryn and Kennedy; siblings, Rosie Pannell Woods and Jackie Spencer of McKinney, Texas, Versell Savage, Perry Pannell, and Barbara Crosby, all of Commerce, TX.
