Services for Billy J. Blixt, 79, of Coal Valley, will be 11:00 AM Thursday, in Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 to 6 PM. Burial will be in the Coal Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Blixt died Monday, July 22, 2002 at his residence. Billy Jay Blixt was born August 10, 1922 in Joy, Illinois the son of John and Bertie (Downey) Blixt. He married Elizabeth J. Roseman in 1961 in East Moline, Illinois. She preceded him in death on January 23, 2001. He served his country during World War II as a Field Artilleryman in the U.S. Army. Mr. Blixt was employed as a small arms repairman for over 38 years at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, Inc., Quad City Ostomy Association, the American Beekeepers Association, and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed working on antique watches, gardening, woodworking, and hunting and fishing. Billy is survived by his son, Gene Blixt of Milan, Illinois; two brothers and a sister-in-law, James and Yoko Blixt of Seattle, Washington, and Andrew Blixt of Des Moines, Iowa; and two sisters, Charlotte Blixt, and Verna Belle Blixt both of Seattle, Washington. He was preceded in death by his sister, Winona, his parents, and his wife.
