Billy G. Sneed, 94, of Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, November 10, 2021, in Jefferson City, Missouri.
Services are 11am Saturday, December 11, at First Presbyterian Church, East Moline, with The Rev. Becky Sherwood officiating. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Private burial will take place prior to services at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church. Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline, is assisting the family.
Billy Gene Sneed was born August 30, 1927, in Russellville, Alabama, the son of Enos Monroe and Bessie (Counts) Sneed. He married Mary Catherine Hester on May 16, 1953 in Russellville. She died January 14, 2020. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the end of World War II. He went on to earn a degree in Agricultural Engineering from Auburn University.
Billy worked for John Deere for 40 years, first in Atlanta before moving to the Quad Cities, where he worked as product support manager. He retired in 1990.
He was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church, East Moline, serving on several committees over the years. He enjoyed golfing, playing bridge and working in his yard. He also loved Auburn Football and Iowa Football and basketball.
Billy is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Bill Nesbit of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Marilyn and Greg Cornish of Nashville, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Nate (Caitlyn) Nesbit, Sam (Eliza) Nesbit, Grant (Caitlin) Cornish, and Emily (Zack) Jaeger; one great-grandchild, Graham Cornish; siblings, Leland (Annette), and Carolyn Fuller, both of Russellville.
