Betty L. Crippen

Betty L. Crippen, 84, of East Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, March 3, 2012, in her daughter's home in East Moline, 


Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to the family. 


The former Betty Lorraine Covault was born September 20, 1927, in East Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Kenneth and Catherine Needham Covault. She married Craig Dean Crippen on March 8, 1947, in Davenport, Iowa. He died April 7, 2001. She was an excellent cake decorator and enjoyed gardening, flowers, crafts, reading, and spending time with her family.


Betty is survived by four children, Sherrie VanDolah of Fulton, Illinois, James Crippen and his wife Deborah of Bushnell, Illinois, John Crippen of Colona, Illinois, and Laurie Reinke and her partner Douglas Rannow of East Moline; seven grandchildren, Tammy Ridens, Belinda Robertson, Timothy Crippen, Jessica Lilley, Stephanie Crippen, Andrew Crippen, and Eric Reinke; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings, Wayne Covault and his wife Carolyn of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Ron Herstedt of Moline, and Sally Herstedt-Setser of Rock Island. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son-in-law, Michael VanDolah.
