Bernice A. Harder, of Moline, Illinois, died on her 91st birthday on Saturday, September 14, 2013, in St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, Illinois, surrounded by her children.
Graveside services are 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline.
The former Bernice Arlene Watts was born September 14, 1922, in Fairbury, Nebraska, to Laurence Cleveland and Anna Willoughby Watts. She married Walter Roy Harder, Jr., on June 11, 1950, in Hiawatha, Kansas. He died December 30, 1996. She worked at Montgomery Wards in Fairbury and Moline, for 15 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and held other positions. She was a life member and past president of the Moline PTA Council, and a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the United Transportation Union.
Bernice is survived by two children, Sharon Roggy and her husband Richard of Bloomington, and Jeffery Harder of Chicago; two grandchildren and their spouses, Dianne and Jim Nolan and Janet and Craig Lamb; and three great-grandchildren, Anna, Nicholas, and Emily Lamb.
