Benjamin J. ?Benny? Sparacello, 86, of East Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013, in Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, Illinois.
Private family services are 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude?s Hospitals.
Benny was born August 1, 1926, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Vitale and Frances Avezzano Sparacello. He served in the U. S, Navy during WW II, and married Naomi Bizzarri on February 23, 1952, in Brooklyn. She died October 14, 1992. He was employed as a laborer at W. R. Grace Company, Brooklyn, for many years. He enjoyed fishing and walking along the river and feeding the ducks.
Benny is survived by four children and their spouses, Vito and Susan Sparacello of Moline, Frances and Albert Anderson of Janesville, Wisconsin, Naomi Sparacello and Allan Dietz of Davenport, Iowa, and Ann and Dean Sellers of Moline; six grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer Hart, Ben ?B.J.? Sparacello, Michael and Alisha Sellers, Doug and Trish Sodeman, Tammy and Jason Caldwell, and Laurie Denys; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and four siblings.
