Barbara J. Quinn, 74, of Davenport, Iowa, died Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport.
Services will be announced at a later date. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.
The former Barbara Jean Francis was born July 24, 1950, in Davenport, the daughter of William Edward and Elizabeth Darlene (Loder) Francis. She graduated from Central High School in 1968 and went on to earn her Associates Degree from Scott Community College. She married Tomas Serrano and the couple had a son, William Serrano, prior to separating. She was then with the love of her life, Michael Laxton, for over 20 years until he passed away November 5, 2005.
Barb worked as a secretary for the City of Davenport Housing and Economic Development for over 10 years, retiring in 2003. Previously, she worked at the casino as a pit clerk.
She enjoyed collecting bells, gambling, and watching her “dramas” on television, especially Days of our Lives and Law & Order. Above all else, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Barb is survived by two children, William (Kristie) Serrano of North Syracuse, New York, and Samantha (Christopher) Lauritzson of Davenport; 11 grandchildren, Kaitlyn, William, Jr. “B.J.”, Isabella, Raylee, Adelynn, Miguel, and Marilena Serrano, and Christopher, Elizabeth, Joshua and Nikkole Lauritzson; three brothers, Bill (Bonnie) Francis of Hillsdale, Illinois, Ray (Jennifer) Francis of Geneseo, and Richard (Barbara) Francis of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her significant other, Michael Laxton; sister, Terri Horton; and her two beloved cats, Bo and Abby.
