Barbara J. Bruner

Barbara J. Bruner, 82, of East Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

Services are 1:00 p.m. Monday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with The Rev. Joye Perry officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

The former Barbara Jean Lutz was born August 16, 1934, in Moline, the daughter of August and Lydia (Tyler) Lutz. She graduated from Rock Island High School before going on to earn her B.S. in medical technology from Michigan State University. She married Rodney Bruner on January 24, 1959, in Rock Island, Illinois. He died January 15, 2016.

She managed laboratories for 32 years at Moline Public and Lutheran, and Genesis hospitals.

Barb was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in East Moline, as well as the Grace Church Circle. She enjoyed golf, bowling, and was a regular at Gold's Gym until the age of 72. She was a very proud MSU alumni.

She is survived by four children, William and Roberta Bruner of Cordova, Illinois, Suzanne and Clifford Carlson of Rochester, Minnesota, Scott and Jackie Bruner of Issaquah, Washington, and Jeffrey Bruner of Davenport, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Lutz of Sacramento, and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a brother, Donald Lutz.
