Barbara J. Biebrich, 74, of East Moline, Illinois, formerly of Alexandria, Virginia, died Thursday, September 19, 2013, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Graveside services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Coal Valley Cemetery, Coal Valley, Illinois, with The Reverend Roger Hungerford officiating. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or The Order of Julian of Norwich. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, is assisting the family.
Barbara Jean Biebrich was born June 10, 1939, in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Leo W. and Bernice E. (Roberts) Biebrich. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University, and later earned her Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Michigan.
She worked for the Federal Government as a supervisor and librarian overseas in Germany, and later for the Library of Congress in Washington D.C., where she was a supervisor in the Physical Sciences Department.
Barbara had been an active member and a Lay Eucharistic Minister at Grace Episcopal Church in Alexandria, where she had many friends. She was a member of OJN, going on yearly retreats when able. She loved to travel, was an avid reader, and enjoyed weaving and needlework.
She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Jim Clark of Coal Valley, nieces, Carrie Strange, of Overland Park, Kansas, and her children, Katie and Ryan, Kelli and Bret Maere of Sherrard, Illinois, and their children, Quinten and Cameron, and Kim Johnson of DeKalb, Illinois, and her children, Whitney and Samantha, and many friends at Park Vista in East Moline.
