Barbara J. Cameron

Barbara Jean Cameron, 74, of Rock Island, passed away peacefully June 3, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.

Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2023, at the Rock Island National Cemetery.  Those wishing to attend should meet in the parking lot of Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12^th Street, Moline, at 11:15 a.m. 

Barbara Jean Scott was born on June 20, 1948, in Moline, IL, the daughter of James and Janet (Krack) Scott. Barbara was a 1966 graduate of United Township High School and completed nursing accreditation at Black Hawk Community College.

Barbara married Thomas Cameron on September 2, 1966, in Macomb, IL. The couple resided in Massachusetts and California while Thom served in the United States Navy. While deployed, they were blessed with a son, Bradley, in 1968. At the completion of their military service, the family settled in Quad Cities for the remainder of her life. Barb had a passion for caring for others and was a nurse for 32 years at several local healthcare facilities including Moline Public, Trinity, and Lutheran Hospital.

Barb will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and always putting others above herself. She enjoyed spending time with her family and puppies (Teddy, Vinny, Dolly), shopping at flea markets, reading, and word search puzzles. She enjoyed the Sunday paper and attended church with her son at Heritage Church in Rock Island.

Survivors include her husband; children, Jacqueline (Wayne) Scalf and Bradley Cameron; grandchildren, Lauren (Cameron) Massey, Christopher Cameron, Jodie (Gianfranco) Scalf, Jill (Sophia) Bakas, and Derek Scalf, great-grandchildren Claire, Drew, Zoey, and Zachary; siblings Elizabeth (Rueben) Aukee and David (Vickie) Scott; and several nephews and nieces. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Melissa; and puppies Gizmo and Waddles.
