Barbara Ann Maeglin

Moline, Illinois Services for Barbara Ann Maeglin, 74, of Moline, are 2 p.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to WVIK-FM at Augustana College. Mrs. Maeglin died Friday, April 20, 2001, in Illini Hospital, Silvis, Illinois. The former Barbara Ann Shifflet was born January 5, 1927, in Waynesville, Illinois, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Snow) Shifflet. She was Valedictorian of her graduating class from Waynesville High School. She married John W. Maeglin on November 17, 1951, in Moline. He died August 16, 1995. She was a Certified Dental Assistant for several dentists, particularly Dr. Charles Ortman and Dr. Milford Nelson. She retired in 1989. Barbara's greatest passion was music, especially opera. She was a devoted patron of the arts and a faithful fan and supporter of WVIK-FM. She also had a passion for all things literary, from great works of fiction to crossword puzzles. She was also known for her "Barbed wit." She was a dedicated and imaginative Cub Scout Den Mother and Brownie Leader for many years, and also volunteered at George Washington Elementary School which all four of her children attended. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Moline, and the Order of Eastern Star. Barbara is survived by four children and their spouses, Krisanne and Jerry Meehan of Moline, Kurt A. Maeglin of Tempe, Arizona, Kent and Lori Maeglin of Moline, and Kathy Maeglin and Albert J. Allen of Indianapolis, Indiana; five grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ryan Meehan, K. B. Maeglin, and Brandon and Kara Maeglin; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Martin and Charlene Shifflet of Crest Hill, Illinois, and Harry and Ann Shifflet of Waynesville, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, George Shifflet, and two sisters, Mayme Shifflet and Frances Baker. END OF OBITUARY
