James B. Withers, 66, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Thursday, December 28, 2006, in his home.
Services are 3 p.m. Sunday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley. Cremation will follow the services. Visitation is from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
James Boyd Withers was born August 11, 1940, in Catron, Missouri, the son of Glen and Maudie (Simmons) Withers. He married Patricia Fontenoy on July 1, 1961, in Rock Island. He served in the U. S. Army. He was employed by J. I. Case for 30 years, retiring as heavy brake operator in 2001. He liked to work with wood and enjoyed remodeling homes.
Jim is survived by his wife, Pat; five children and their spouses, Donald and Carol Withers of Abilene, Texas, Anthony and Jenni Withers of Las Vegas, Nevada, Joseph Withers of East Moline, David Withers of Colona, and Jamie and Allen Williamson of East Moline; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his mother, Maudie Bennett of Moline; sisters, Glenda Withers of Moline, and Mary Withers of East Moline; a brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Laurie Robinson of Moline; half-sisters, Ester Snodgrass, Bonnie Withers, and Susan Duke; and half-brothers, David, Dale, Glen and Richard Withers. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Tim Robinson.
