Arthur V. DeVoss, 64, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015.
A prayer service, led by Fr. Fredi Gomez Torres, will be held for family and close friends at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, Illinois 61265 at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016. The celebration of Art's life will continue with a luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation in Arthur's name to the Aflac Cancer Center in Atlanta, Georgia (www.choa.org).
Arthur was born May 2, 1951, in Whitwell, Tennessee, to Stanley and Jodie (Grimes) DeVoss. He attended Cambridge, Illinois, High School and graduated from Henry-Senachwine High School, Henry, Illinois, in 1970. He worked at International Harvester in East Moline before becoming an insurance agent with Bankers Life and Casualty in 1974. Arthur joined Aflac in 1989 and was one of the leading agents for the company. He loved to work and in his "retirement" was a bus driver for Valley TLC in Phoenix. He enjoyed karaoke and making people laugh. Arthur always said that there were no strangers, only friends that he had not yet had the opportunity to meet.
Arthur is survived by his three sons, Todd C. (Teresa) DeVoss of Aurora, Illinois, Thomas C. DeVoss of Randolph Center, Vermont, and Tyler K. DeVoss of Davenport, Iowa; six grandchildren, Anthony, Todd Jr., Erin, Marley, Addison, and Marcus; one great grandson, Noah; brothers, Stanley DeVoss and Joe DeVoss; sister, Lennie DeVoss; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley in 1964, and Jodie in 2014, and his brother, Roy Lee DeVoss in 2013.
