Arnold Lowery

Arnold Lowery, 76, of Pleasant Valley, Iowa, passed away quietly at home on Sunday morning, June 11, 2017.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. No services will be held.

Arnie was born January 3, 1941, in Davenport, Iowa, to Roy and Elsie Petersen Lowery. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1959, where he lettered in football and basketball. He proudly served in the US Army from 1959 to 1962, and married Rita Jo Ervin Cary in 1995. He worked at Case Co., then graduated from Scott Community College, and finished his career as a carpenter. He was a big Hawkeye and Cubs fan, loved watching NCAA football and basketball, and enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends. With his great sense of humor, it was easy for him to draw a crowd telling stories of his journey through this world. Some of his last words were "I had a great life."

Arnie is survived by his wife, Rita; sons, Chad Lowery and Brad Lowery, both of Davenport; step-son, Danny (Stacey) Cary of Panorama Park; and grandsons, Chance Cary and Lucas Parris. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth Lowery Sr., and step-daughter Johanna Speer. A man with a big, kind heart, he will be greatly missed.
