Anna B. Payden, 90, of Moline, Illinois, died Friday, May 17, 2013, in Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, Illinois.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Congregational Church, Moline, with The Reverend Jacqueline Perry officiating. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials my be made to the church or Alzheimer?s Association. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is assisting the family.
The former Anna Blanche Stoelting was born April 11, 1923, in Tampa, Florida, the daughter of William J. Sr. and Florence Matthews Stoelting. She married Neal Franklin Payden on November 11, 1944, in Moline. He died April 27, 2011. She earned her nursing degree from Blackhawk College, and was an physicians office nurse for several years, retiring from Drs. Oppenheimer and Davies in 1989.
Anna was a long-time member of First Congregational Church, where she was a member of the Women?s Association and served on the Pastoral Search Committee. She belonged to the Grant School PTA, and several bridge clubs, and enjoyed knitting and sewing. Her life?s work was her children and grandchildren.
Anna is survived by five children and their spouses, Deborah Tyler of Lake Isabella, California, Betty and Dr. Richard Herzfeldt of Moline; The Revs. Thomas and Deborah Payden of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, William and Lisa Payden of Moline, and Jennifer and Michael Geske of Crystal Lake, Illinois; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Tammy Tyler and John Kohler, Katie and Greg Ferguson, Tom and Joan Herzfeldt, Jean and Justin Watts, Anna Payden and Jason Heil, Rachel Payden, Richard Payden, Brian Payden, Nicholas Geske, Zachary Geske, and Benjamin Geske; five great-grandchildren, Karlie and Harper Ferguson, Oliver and Annalynn Watts, and Maeve Dwyer; and sisters and a brother-in-law, Florence Traube of Oregon, and Betty and William Thorngren of Grand Island, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Richard Payden, and a brother, William J. Stoelting Jr.
