Alvin C. Rodgers, 62, of Milan, Illinois, died Wednesday, August 17, 2005, in Riverpark Health Care Center, Rock Island.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, with The Reverend Tim Snart officiating. The body has been cremated and burial of ashes will be in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is one-half hour before the service. Memorials may be made to the Alvin Rodgers Memorial Fund to purchase a headstone.
Alvin Charles Rodgers was born November 8, 1942, in Savanna, Illinois. He received his teacher?s aid certificate from Black Hawk College, and worked at Longview Elementary School in Rock Island.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley; past president of the Coal Valley Lion Club and served in Lion District offices. He served as an Election Judge for several years and called Bingo at many places. He was a long-time supporter of the Quad City Child Abuse Council and a loyal Illini and Cubs fan.
Alvin is survived by two daughters, Kathy Rodgers of Coal Valley and Lorrie Jackson of Bettendorf; seven grandchildren; and special friends, Sandi and Dennis James and Marilyn and George Grems, all of Milan, and Janet and Don Beyers and family of Coal Valley.
