Allan R. Kelley, 82, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.
Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Monday at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Those wishing to attend should meet at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, at 9:45 a.m. Prior to services, cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory. Memorials may be made to any veterans' organization.
Allan Robert Kelley was born November 24, 1933, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Junior George and Mildred (Fowler) Kelley. He served in the U.S. Army. He married Janice Hendricks on July 11, 1953, in Moline. She died December 20, 1988. He later married Ruth Nelson on February 14, 1991, in Rock Island.
He was a machinist on the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring as foreman in 1988.
Allan had been a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. He enjoyed woodworking and building, and was a perfectionist when doing projects for himself or others.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; children and their spouses, Mike Kelley of East Moline, Stephen Kelley of Moline, Lynn and David Goheen of Silvis, Robert Nelson of Rock Island, and Julia and Jim Riley of East Moline; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Kurtis and Sharon Kelley of Silvis. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice, and siblings, Virgil, Annette, Douglas, and Carol.
