Alice Evelyn "Chickie" Bennett, 91, of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, January 31, 2015, in Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church, East Moline, with The Reverend Bill Coley officiating. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church or the Illinois Spina Bifida Association.
The former Alice Evelyn Westbrook was born September 11, 1923, in Hillsboro, Illinois, to Robert and Alice (Puckett) Westbrook. She married LeRoy Duff "Roy" Bennett on May 2, 1943, in Indiana. He died April 5, 2011. She was manager of the cafeteria at Coolidge Junior High School in Moline for 18 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of First Christian Church, East Moline, and enjoyed spending time with her family and Bible study.
Evelyn is survived by four children and their spouses, Barbara and Jean Johnson of Delmar, Iowa, Susan Bennett of Chicago, Illinois, Ellen Parris of Moline, and Harold Bennett of Everett, Washington; two grandsons and their spouses, Nathan and Stephannie Parris and Luke and Sara Parris; and five great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Lillian, Elliot, Jackson and Henry Parris. She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Robert Westbrook; a sister, Marilyn Kline; and three siblings in infancy.
