Alfred Richard Stryzs was born May 12, 1948, in Wilmington, Delaware, to Alfred A. and Mary (Radulski) Stryzs. In 1968, he was drafted into the US Army where he served in Vietnam with the 9th Infantry Division and was awarded several medals. He returned to Delaware where he worked in construction as a surveyor and eventually found his niche in construction as a project superintendent. He worked all over the United States, landing in Iowa in 1995, where he met Shari Lutz on a blind date. They were married in Las Vegas in 2003.
Fred enjoyed saltwater fishing, the beach, spending time with "the usual suspects," casinos, a fine whisky, a good cigar, and family.
Fred is survived by his wife, Shari; their children, David (Roxanne) Heinig of Newark, Delaware, Amber Waggoner of Rock Island, Lacey (David) Fox of Rock Island, and Taylor (Joe Kubly) Satterly of Grand Junction, Colorado; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Gwendalyn "Da", Buzz, Elise, Vincent, Evalette, Julien, and Cole; a great-grandson, Archer; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Stan and Dee Stryzs and Bill and Pat Stryzs, all of Delaware.
