J. Albert “Doc” Stratton, 95, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, February 23, 2009, in Illini Restorative Care,, Silvis, Illinois.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009, in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with The Reverend Katherine Mulhern officiating. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Edwards Congregational United Church of Christ, Davenport, Iowa.
James Albert Stratton was born May 31, 1913, in Wyoming, Illinois, the son of Dewitt Clinton and Emma (Welsh) Stratton. He married Dorothy Maxine Wilkinson on December 2, 1939, in Toulon, Illinois. She died January 22, 1987. He was employed as a maintenance mechanic at Collinson Stone Company, Milan, for 60 years, retiring in 1996 at the age of 83. He was the ultimate mechanic who could fix anything, and enjoyed bowling.
Albert is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Earl Womack of Livingston, Texas; a son, Lyle Stratton of Bettendorf, Iowa; three grandchildren, Todd Womack and his wife Rachel, Kyle Womack and his friend Cathy Janke, and Nolan Stratton; a great-grandson, Riley Womack; and sisters, Mollie Storey of Walla Walla, Washington, and Lena Beall of Wyoming, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter-in-law, Carol Stratton, three sisters, and three brothers.
