Adams Westcott

Doris "Dodie" Adams Westcott, 90, formerly of Moline, Illinois, went to sleep on Sunday, May 9, 2010, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, Illinois, and awoke in heaven.

Services are 1 p.m. Thursday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with Pastor Jim Hudzinski officiating. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to Homewood Evangelical Free Church, Moline.

The former Doris LaVonne Secrest was born January 22, 1920, in Slayton, Minnesota, the daughter of Verne and Clara Bellinger Secrest. She married Irwin Adams on October 30, 1938, in Fort Madison, Iowa. He died September 6, 1960. She married R. Warren Westcott on June 23, 1962, in Moline. He died February 24, 1992. She was employed as a financial clerk at Deere and Company for eight years, retiring in 1996.

Dodie was an active member of Homewood Evangelical Free Church, Moline, for many years. She enjoyed reading and walking her dog, Angel, playing card games and board games with her grandchildren, and was known as the family prayer warrior.

Dodie is survived by three children and their spouses, Sandra and Robert Parker of Moline, Jan and Harry DeVrieze of Rome, Georgia, and Penny and Jack Youngquist of Aledo, Illinois; a step-daughter, Ardath Adams Kakavas and her husband Basil of Kerrville, Texas; eight grandchildren, Susan Robinson, Katy Dickson, David Youngquist, Eric Youngquist, Forest Youngquist Ballinger, Wells Parker, Linda Raymond, and Laura DeVrieze; 16 great grandchildren, Parker, Jordan, Paul, Sara, Michael, Audrey, Sydney, Clara, Anders, Jude, Douglas, Michaela, Emma, Matilda, Lucas and Kaitlynn (and a great-grandson due in July); and a sister, Marjorie Brunk of Aurora, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husbands and three brothers, Verne, Harold, and Robert Secrest.
