Adalyn Marie Swanson, 8, daughter of Doug and Jackie Swanson of Sherrard, Illinois, died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 22, 2015, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Moline, Moline, Illinois.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Matherville, Illinois, with The Reverend John Thieryoung officiating. Burial is in Sherrard Cemetery. Visitation is 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday in the gymnasium at Sherrard High School. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Addie's memory. Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, is assisting the family.
Adalyn was born June 15, 2006, in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Douglas Robert and Jaclyn Marie (Swan) Swanson.
Addie was a very active girl who loved to read, sing and dance, cook and bake, and use her imagination playing and drawing. She enjoyed sports, playing basketball, soccer, softball, and tumbling, and was the biggest Sherrard Girls' basketball fan. She was a fan of Duke and Augustana basketball. She was a girl scout and a natural leader among her siblings, cousins and friends.
Addie is survived by her parents; her siblings, Ellayna, Kamryn, and Cole Swanson; grandparents, Dave and Janet Swanson, Jack and Luann Swan, all of Sherrard; great-grandparents, Donna Jackson of Sherrard, and Bill and Virginia Ferry of Moline; her uncles and aunts, Todd and Carrie Swanson of Bettendorf, Iowa, Sister Bernadette Therese "Aunt Jenn" of Stamford, Connecticut, and Jamie and Mike Jones of New Windsor, Illinois; and her cousins, who were some of her best friends, Drew and Carter Swanson, and Jackson, Javin, Jaren, and Jaylee Jones. She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Bob Jackson, Clarence and Lois Swanson, and John Jr. and Barbara Swan.
