Edward A. Polfliet, 90, of Moline, Illinois, died Sunday, June, 15, 2008, in Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with The Reverend Joe Gardner officiating. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Edward August Polfliet was born February 23, 1918, in Geneseo, Illinois, the son of August and Mary (Teats) Polfliet. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He married Dorothy June Whitbeck on November 24, 1945, in Moline. She died January 18, 1998. He was a turbine operator for the former Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company for 30 years, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline. He loved professional wrestling, was an avid golfer, and enjoyed yard work and traveling, especially to Las Vegas.
Ed is survived by a son, Jeffrey Polfliet of Moline, and a sister, Elsie Claybaugh of Davenport, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters and two brothers.
