Janice A. Pierce, 71, of Moline, Illinois, died Sunday, January 10, 2010, in Rock Island Nursing and Rehab Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Moline, with The Reverends Flint and Deb Miller officiating. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Moline, United Church of Christ in Elcho, Wisconsin, or the Knights Templar Memorial Fund at Summit Lake, Wisconsin.
Janice Anne was born April 19, 1938, in Iowa City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Dr. Theodore M. and Anne Pool Tueckes. She graduated from Davenport High School and Monmouth College. She married Richard N. Pierce on June 25, 1960, in Davenport. Jan enjoyed teaching and was an elementary school teacher for Moline School District #40, retiring from Lincoln-Irving School in 1982 due to illness.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Moline; Daughters of the Nile; Moline Chapter #258, Order of Eastern Star; a lifetime member of National, Illinois, and Moline Education Associations, and Illinois Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of Quad City Music Guild, Knights Templar Club at Summit Lake, Wisconsin, and the Scottish Rite 33rd Degree Wives Club.
Jan is survived by her husband, Richard; her son, Kevin R. Pierce of Moline; her daughter Carolyn Pierce of Dwight, Illinois; two nieces and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert Tueckes, and a nephew.
