Bruce Allen Foster was born February 6, 1928, in Madison, South Dakota, the son of Floyd and Florence (Hensel) Foster. He graduated from South Dakota State University with a Bachelor?s Degree in Agricultural Engineering, with a minor in Journalism. He served in the army at the end of World War II. He married Adela Hafner on August 24, 1952, in Mitchell, South Dakota.
His career as an agricultural advertising copywriter and manager spanned decades. He retired from Deere and Company in 1984 from the position of manager of agricultural advertising. He truly believed that ?nothing runs like a Deere?. He mentored many fledgling copywriters in the course of his career.
He enjoyed music, especially singing and playing harmonica. He brought joy to many weddings and comfort at many funerals through the songs he sang. He was active in his church and sang in the church choir for over 55 years.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 55 years, Adela; daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Richard Sederquist of Taylor Ridge, Illinois, and Lori and Bill Mariner of Rock Island, Illinois; grandsons, Andrew and Michael Sederquist; brothers and a sister-in-law, Robert Foster of Iowa City, Iowa, and Earl and Dorothy Foster of Sun City, Arizona; sisters and a brother-in-law, Ann Olson of Shoreview, Minnesota, and Carol Avenmarge, Carmen and Jon Gill, all of Santa Cruz, California; and sisters-in-law, Evelyn and Buck Buckmeier of Richardson, Texas, and Marlene Hafner of St. Paul, Minnesota.
Bruce was a loving husband and father who imparted good solid values to his children. He amazed his family with his ability to turn a pile of junk into a beautifully restored tractor!
Bruce?s family invites you to share memories and condolences, and light a candle in his memory at www.TrimbleFuneralHomes.com.
