Jeanette A. Fitzpatrick, 90, of Sherrard, formerly of Rock Island, died Friday, February 22, 2008, surrounded by her family in her home.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Cable Community Church, Sherrard, with the Reverend Clint Zimmer officiating. Private burial will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery. In leau of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jeanette A. Fitzpatrick Memorial Fund. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is assisting the family.
The former Jeanette Adeline Wise was born April 7, 1917, in Milan, Illinois, the daughter of Walter and Dorothy (Goene) Wise. She married Edwin Loquist on March 5, 1949, in Rock Island. He died February 8, 1972. She married Joe Fitzpatrick on February 12, 1994, in Golden, Oregon. He died two years later.
Jeanette was a Hospital Apprentice for the United States Navy, and was also in the Wave?s Nationals during World War II. She worked as a nurse?s aid in pediatrics and geriatrics for numerous healthcare facilities in Rock Island County and Oregon. Locally, she worked for the Rock Island County Convolesence Center and Oak Glen Home. She helped start the Diabetes Association in Oregon and was secretary for the local chapter for years.
She enjoyed bingo, crocheting, sewing, reading, and most importantly loved spending time with her family.
Jeanette is survived by sons and a daughter-in-law, Bruce and Vivian Loquist of Coos Bay, Oregon, and Walter Loquist of Moline; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Jeffrey Goben of Cable, Illinois; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Sarah Loquist, Kayla Rose Loquist, Michael and Sally Serpa, Brook Serpa, Mason Steiner, Kristina Loquist, Kathy Hill, Kayla Goben, and Carrie Conover; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara ?Bobbie? Cady of California. She was preceded in death by a son, Jim Loquist, and a sister, Bessie Mittman.
